Greenwood
Housing market is red hot here as well
By LYNN STEINBERG
Housing prices are skyrocketing, just as they are elsewhere in the region. But it is still possible to get a starter home at a reasonable cost. You've just got to move fast. Harry Cummings, managing broker of Windermere's Northwest office, says well-priced homes in good condition draw multiple offers and generally sell in 24 hours. The cost of houses now on the market range from $110,000 for a one-bedroom, one-bath starter to $335,000 for a four-bedroom with lush gardens and 1940s charm. At the corner of Third Avenue Northwest and Northwest 87th, just a few blocks from the low-income housing complex, is a new, luxurious 4,000-square-foot house with four bedrooms and five baths that the builder, Senger Construction, estimates is worth $750,000. It was designed for a couple who said they planned to have lots of company.
