If you're visiting, check out these spots:

  • Civic Light Opera is one of Lake City's best kept secrets. The semi-professional troupe, now in its 19th season, offers great value for those who love musical theater. Productions are staged at Jane Addams Theatre, 11051 34th Ave. N.E. The musical "Camelot'' opens April 24. Information: 363-2809.

  • Baker's Old-Fashioned Sweet Parlour and Restaurant is longtime Lake City favorite, rivaling only Claire's Pantry for drawing big lunch-time crowds. Founded in 1929 by Ernie and Barbara Baker, the family still whips up delicious confections that are sold throughout the Northwest. It's at 12534 Lake City Way N.E.

  • Meadowbrook Community Center and Swimming Pool is the fourth of five new city recreation and service centers. Its bright, airy design accommodates a range of programs for kids and adults, including martial arts, dance and drama classes, aerobics and cooking workshops. A new walkway ties the center to the Meadowbrook indoor pool. It's at 10515 35th Ave. N.E. Info: 684-7522.
