To Do

  • See old times: The Lake Stevens Historical Museum exhibits more than 900 photographs and hundreds of artifacts from past eras. Displays include tools of the timber trade, fixtures from the old schoolhouse, water-ski memorabilia and tons of stuff from the pharmacy/soda fountain once on Main Street. 1802 124th Ave. N.E. Hours: 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. 425-334-3944

  • Jump in the lake: Choose from one of several swimming beaches. Wyatt Park, on the west side of the lake at Davies Road and Chapel Hill Road, offers a swimming beach, picnic area, fishing docks and boat launch. Lundeen Park, on the north side of the lake off Lundeen Parkway, is a 8.3-acre space with a shallow swimming beach, playground equipment, a fishing dock, sheltered picnic areas and an asphalt basketball court. Sunset Park, on South Lake Stevens Road, is a small park with swimming access and a grassy area. City Beach, just outside the city on North Lakeshore Drive, is a small swimming beach with a dock.

  • Take a hike: The Centennial Trail, which runs from Snohomish to Arlington, is accessible from 20th Street near the Machias/Hartford Road.

  • Play with the kids: The Kid's Oasis Playground, just off 20th Street near downtown, was built by members of the community in 1992. The large wooden play structure is open when the Mount Pilchuck Elementary School students are not at recess.

  • Catch Aquafest: Aquafest is a four-day event held the last weekend in July. It includes parades, a pet show, music, arts and crafts, food booths, road races, a carnival and fireworks.
