Great Northern Railway tracks run through Monroe in this 1905 photo, looking south from the present-day Marhanlo Shopping Center. The first train from the East came through town and stopped in Snohomish on Jan. 7, 1893, according to Nellie E. Robertson's book, "Monroe: The First Fifty Years, 1860-1910."
