A 1950s advertisement for the Post-Intelligencer's annual Home Show touted the good life to be found in the fledgling community of Mountlake Terrace.

This two-bedroom brick home in Mountlake Terrace sold for about $7,000 in the 1950s. Affordable homes -- and vistas of the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, including Mount Rainier -- lured returning veterans and their burgeoning families to the area.
