If you're visiting, check out these spots:

  • Marine Science Center -- The center at 18743 Front St. N.E. is a favorite for students and lovers of marine life. The skeleton of a whale is its major display and there are touching tanks. Hours: daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; admission is $2 to $4.

  • Front Street -- The waterfront street -- designed to look like a Norwegian village -- has numerous tourist attractions, including Boehm's Chocolates, 18864 Front St. The street leads to the entrance of the 305-slip marina.

  • First Lutheran Church -- The historic structure and cemetery overlook downtown Poulsbo at Fourth Avenue and Lincoln Road. This was the first church in Poulsbo and its annual lutefisk dinner draws hundreds of fans from around the Pacific Northwest.
