Settled by William Littlewood in 1878, Silverdale was almost known as Goldendale. But that name was taken for a town in Klickitat County, so the Kitsap settlers settled on Silverdale. A few buildings and a dock are what greeted visitors to Silverdale when the photo was taken around the turn of the century.
