Sodo
To Do list

If you're visiting, check out these spots:

    Map of the area
  • The Sodo Urban Art Corridor, running on South Fifth Avenue from South Royal Brougham Way to Spokane Street, contains 24 lavish murals painted by local artists. It was created several years ago to fight graffiti and vandalism and to promote a more attractive environment.

  • Lemieux's Restaurant & Lounge, 97 S. Lander Street, is the place to go for a hearty meal in a dimly lit quasi-elegant environment. The place is a Sodo institution dating back to the early 1920s. Here's where the Starbucks crowd mingles with construction workers over a hearty breakfast. Omelets are the rage, as are the fish and chips and French dips for lunch. Open weekdays, 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays; Saturday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Sunday. 206-624-9851.

  • The Starbucks Center, 2401 Utah Ave. S., is Sodo's grandest landmark. It has the second-most square feet in the Northwest, after Boeing's assembly plant at Paine Field. Wander through its vast expanses that stretch three football fields long. There are 50 businesses inside, including a number of retail outlets to visit during business hours.

  • Barbeque is king in Sodo. Here's a sampling:

    • Pecos Pit, a Sodo institution at 2260 First Ave. S. Open weekdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed weekends.
    • Mac's Smokehouse, 1006 First Ave. S. Open weekdays 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 12 to 6 p.m.
    • Seattle Super Smoke, 2454 S. Occidental. Open weekdays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed weekends.
