Across the Sound
Across Puget Sound from Seattle lies the Olympic Peninsula, a region of rolling forests and small towns linked by winding, scenic roads. The largest city is the Navy town of Bremerton. No bridges link the Peninsula to Seattle; the state's ferry fleet is the only way for commuters to cross the Sound. Within the Sound itself are numerous island communities, including Vashon, Bainbridge and the San Juans.
