Downtown & Nearby Between the Montlake Cut and Interstate 90, between Lake Washington and Interstate 5, lie some of the city's oldest, most distinctive neighborhoods -- and some of its biggest contrasts. Montlake and Madison Park are among Seattle's wealthier neighborhoods, while the Central Area and Judkins Park are among the poorer ones. On Capitol Hill, elegant mansions mix with a funky nightlife scene. In the International District, generations of Asian immigrants have reshaped the community time and again.
