Southeast Suburbs Not that long ago, southeast King County was rolling farmland. During the 1980s the Kent Valley blossomed into a key industrial center, anchored by a major Boeing plant in Auburn. Urban sprawl has arrived with a vengeance now, as rising housing costs and a shortage of buildable land have pushed developers and homebuyers into once-sleepy country towns.
