Daily No On I-912: Then what?
It's not enough to say no to a good idea. You have to offer a better idea. And the folks who would have you say no to the new gas tax increase with Initiative 912 fail the better-idea test.
There's talk of an "alternative" plan that the Legislature can adopt if I-912 succeeds. It's apparently a variation of the plan floated by Bellevue developer Kemper Freeway, er, Freeman, to build roads, roads, roads. It's anathema to our transit-starved urban areas.
Then there are the alternatives for funding transportation, including a sales tax increase. The Jetsons will join the Seattle commute before voters accept that approach.
