A cleaner future

SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER EDITORIAL BOARD

The Earth is heating up at rates that astonish scientists. While opponents claim Initiative 937 goes too far, the real issue is how soon we all may wonder why we didn't demand more clean energy projects from utilities.

Washington's leaders still love big spending to replace existing car capacity (Alaskan Way Viaduct) or expand it (Evergreen Point Bridge). I-937 would tell utilities to invest in healthier energy sources. A yes vote will give good direction to utilities, and a message to politicians about the future.
