High school stars of the week

Matt Coombs, Bellevue

  • SPORT: Football

  • VITALS: Senior, running back/defensive back

  • FEATS: Coombs racked up 208 all-purpose yards, two touchdowns and an interception, leading the Wolverines to their second consecutive 3A championship with a 28-10 win over Lynden Friday night. His interception set up a 30-yard touchdown run. With 169 rushing yards, he broke the 1,000-yard mark for the season, totaling 1,060.

    Jamie Edwards, Redmond

  • SPORT: Girls basketball

  • VITALS: Senior, 5-7, guard

  • FEATS: Edwards led the Mustangs to victories over ranked opponents last week by averaging 19 points. Against Seattle Prep, the defending 3A champion, Edwards scored 18 points in a 67-54 win. She had a season-high 20 points and five steals in a 79-52 win over Issaquah.

    Marcus Williams, Roosevelt

  • SPORT: Boys basketball

  • VITALS: Sophomore, 6-4, guard

  • FEATS: In three games last week in which the Roughriders went 1-2, Williams averaged 24.7 points. He erupted for a season-high 27 points in Roosevelt's 70-57 win over Highline Friday. Williams scored 22 in the season-opening 61-53 loss to Kentwood, and put up a game-high 25 in a 57-45 loss to Cleveland Thursday.
