  • Seattle native Kenny Mayne will host a live one-hour implosion day special at 8 a.m. on ESPN Classic and ESPN's SportsCenter will cut in for live coverage of the actual implosion -- the first live event ever televised by ESPN Classic. Mayne's special will feature a lengthy interview with Ken Griffey Jr., a live satellite interview with P-I columnist Art Thiel and on-set guests including former Sonics Jack Sikma and Slick Watts and former Seahawk Dave Krieg.

The show also will air a retrospective on Seahawks Hall of Famer Steve Largent as well as a flashback to great Kingdome moments, from the NCAA Final Fours to The Billy Graham Crusade.

The special follows a hour Kingdome marathon on ESPN Classic that begins at 5 p.m. next Saturday.

That nearly daylong broadcast will include the 1979 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, an 1991 "Up Close" episode with Brian Bosworth, a pair of NCAA Tournament Finals, Game 5 of the 1995 American League semifinals between the Mariners and the Yankees, plus selected Mariners and Seahawks games.
