Fringe productions are popping up all over the place
To tempt the adventurous theatergoer, a half-dozen fringe productions open during the coming week.
theater simple's production of "Three Viewings," playwright Jeffrey Hatcher's dark comedy about love and death, opens tonight at Richard Hugo House, 1634 11th Ave., and runs through March 5. The show offers three soliloquies. The setting is a funeral parlor. Tickets are $10 and $15, discounts for groups; www.ticketwindowonline.com or at the door (cash only).
Also opening tonight is "The Exorcist: the Musical! a "parody for charity" production presented by the Guerrilla Masquerade Party company at Northwest Actors Studio, 1100 E. Pike St. The parody is of the 1973 film about satanic possession. The charity that benefits from the show is Home Alive, a volunteer organization involved in making streets safe. Tickets are $12, students and seniors $10; 206-324-6328. The production runs through March 5.
The third annual Seattle Festival of Improv Theater starts Wednesday and runs through Feb. 20 at two venues, the Historic University Theater at 5510 University Way N.E., and the Market Theater, 1428 Post Alley. Three shows open on Thursday: "Delaware," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "Twelfth Night." "Delaware" is a mix of music and comedy. It runs at Re-bar, 1114 Howell St. (21 and over), through Feb. 26. Tickets are $12; 206-323-0388 or www.rebarseattle.com Ghost Light Theatricals presents Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" as a sex farce set in the 1970s. The production runs through March 5 at the Freehold East Hall Theatre, 1529 10th Ave., second floor.
