Passenger-only ferry service to Bremerton begins on Aug. 1
BREMERTON -- Passenger-only ferry service is scheduled to begin Aug. 1 between Bremerton and Seattle.
The Kitsap Ferry Co. plans four round trips daily. The fare will be $7 each way for the 40-minute trip on the 250-passenger "Spirit of Adventure" catamaran.
The state ferry service discontinued its passenger-only service on the route nearly a year ago because of budget cuts.
A state regulatory board threw out a union protest last week, giving Kitsap Ferry the go-ahead to begin the route across Puget Sound.
The Inlandboatmen's Union withdrew a similar protest against proposed private service on the Kingston-Seattle route, so a foot-ferry could be running there by October. Aqua Express wants to offer service on that route.
