The goods: West Coast "West Side Story," Fox style. Stars D.J. Cotrona, Olivia Wilde, Rachel Ticotin, Kevin Anderson and Ron Silver.

Ideal mate is: A young adult who doesn't think there's enough rebellious romance or G-strings on television.

D.J. Cotrona and Olivia Wilde play teens whose hormones are raging, but there's a major obstacle to their love: their warring families.

First impression: A tale of secretive teen lovers, 17-year-old East Angeleno Adam (Cotrona) and 16-year-old Westsider Jewel (Wilde), who must hide their budding affair from their parents. Why? Because Adam's mother (Ticotin), a Latina judge, and father (Anderson), the Los Angeles district attorney, are in a public war with Jewel's father (Silver), L.A.'s most successful purveyor of adult entertainment.

Promising? Maybe, if "Skin" lives up to its promise to explore race and class divisions along with the melodrama. The parental enmity hints at yielding some grit, but focusing on the teenagers' inevitable makeup-breakup pattern could grow tiresome. Then again, "The O.C." showed there's an audience hungry for prime-time soap suds. And porn can be a powerful relationship aid. Not that we know anything about that personally.
