The producers of the ABC game show "The Chair" are suing Fox for allegedly stealing their idea.

Fox announced yesterday that its new game show, "The Chamber," will premiere Sunday at 8 p.m., two days before ABC is scheduled to launch "The Chair."

In "The Chamber," from Dick Clark Productions, a contestant must sit in a chair and answer general-knowledge questions amid an onslaught of "environmental distractions" such as wind, cold, heat, etc. In "The Chair," from Australia/New Zealand-based Touchdown Television, a contestant must sit in a chair attached to a heart monitor and answer general-knowledge questions without his heart rate exceeding a predetermined limit.

Fox says Touchdown's claim is baseless, and the network is countersuing because that's what adults do in this business. If the whining gets really ugly, put your money on ABC and Touchdown Television. They've named John McEnroe to host "The Chair."
